THI Holsteins ‘Genomic stars are not found by chance, you have to breed for them!’
It is the home of the two highest PP sires in Germany, the highest worldwide red factor sire, a top-25 sire in Spain, and many other top sires. It is a herd with one of the most intensive genomic breeding programs to be found in Germany and at the same time it is a herd that is still home to 19 EX cows among its 140 head. Viewed from the outside, Thoenes Holsteins International (THI) is something of a big universal breeding project. And that is what it is from inside as well. We were there to see one of the most popular German herds and get to know its owner.
