AN APPLE DOESN’T FALL FAR FROM THE TREE

‘They are all problem-free free-stall cows that show very good legs. Particularly the very good feet with depth of heel that guarantees they wouldn’t get Mortellaro,’ says Martin Biederbick. He is the proud owner of EHS-Bonita VG-85, who is currently one of the most popular bull dams in Germany. The Money-P daughter comes from a VG-85 Spark-Red dam and a Styx-Red granddam. The nice thing about this is that all three generations are in the barn of Biederbick. The roots of Bonita are found in Rainyridge Talent Barbara EX-95. ‘They are cows that are simply functional, show good udders and produce a lot of milk. The breeding luck that we are currently achieving with this family does not happen often,’ share Martin. Bonita is the dam of the sire Skill-Red at the PhönixGroup, who leads the German list for red and white sires with 161 RZG. He promises a lot of milk, scores 138 for legs, has a high breeding value for longevity, and high RZGesund value and 120 for feet and 127 for DDControl. At 172 RZG, his full sister is at an incredibly high level and leads the female red and white list in Germany. With 3149 RZ€ she is also the absolute Nr.1 has an estimated milk value of +3094kg. She has certainly inherited the strengths of her dam’s line and shows high values for longevity, feet and legs and all health traits.

A FAMILY OF CHAMPIONS

The Jubie line of Peace & Plenty Farms of Maryland continually attracts attention. Doc Jubie-16 EX-94 is out of Atwood Jubilant EX-93. ‘The dam of Jubilant, Earnhardt Dundee Jewels EX-91, was purchased as a calf at the Maryland Holstein Association Sale. She is out of a Stormatic and then an EX Outside,’ explains Austin Schwartzbeck. Jubie-16 is one of 17 EX daughters from Jubilant (Jubie). There are also 11 VG two-year-old daughters. ‘To date we have 53 daughters from Jubilant, though she left the herd last October,’ Austin continues. Jubie-16 is one of four EX-94 daughters from Jubilant and was 4th place the four-year-old class at the World Dairy Expo last year and was nominated as an All American. She was Grand Champion at the Southern Spring National Holstein Show. Her daughters put on a good show at the All-American Dairy Show in Harrisburg last year. Solomon Jubie was named Reserve Intermediate Champion, a Hanas daughter and Sidekick Jubie-37 each took a first, two more daughters took second places. From the Jubilant line there were six offspring that were nominated as All Americans last year. ‘We love the enormous dairy strength and openness of rib that our Jubie daughters have. They are easy to recognize in our herd. We love the outstanding udders, which show a lot of body and quality,’ concludes the proud breeder.

A LEGACY OF THE ZEE FAMILY

Yannick Laurent operates the “GAEC DE L`AVEL” farm in Brittania with his brother Philippe and his uncle André. They milk 300 cows and since 2010 that have been working intensively on breeding, and successfully so. The cow family “Zee” has been bred on the farm for many years. The start of this family was the Dreamweaver daughter Lizee de L’avel VG-84, who was flushed, which led to Nanalizee, who was one of the highest Applicable daughters in France. She is now in her fifth lactation at an age of six years and five months and is classified EX-91. Nanalizee has several very successful daughters. Sivilizee is the highest Pacino daughter in France with 190 ISU. ‘My favourite cow from this family is still Realizee VG-86,’ shares Yannick with me. With 200 ISU, she is the highest Hothand daughter in France and she produced 12,458kg/27,408lb 4.09% 3.69% in her first lactation. Realizee is the dam of Unygann-P, who is at Synetics and scores 224 ISU, making him the Nr.2 ISU and Nr.5 polled sire. Realizee already has six very interesting daughters. One of them is the San-Remo daughter Terrorizee, who is currently the Nr.2 gISU animal in France with 217.

THE COMPLETE PACKAGE

The popular bull dam from Italy is currently attracting a lot of attention.

In the breeding barn of Sabbiona, Haniko Easter VG-86 is attracting a lot of attention. The Haniko daughter is out of a VG-89 Crushabull x EX-92 1st Grade x VG-87 Alexander x Talent and she goes back to the world-famous base dam Jeffrey Way Mascot Tina. ‘We really like Easter a lot, not only because of her good type, which has made her one of our best young cows in the herd. She also wants to produce a lot of milk and is always at the bunk eating. We also want to get Easter ready for the shows in the fall,’ shares Lorenzo Ciserani. Easter was flushed as a heifer and from the pairing with Dropbox came the bull Sabbiona Hangover (PTAT 3.69 and 3.57 UDC). The full sister to Hangover also scores 3.40 for UDC and was successfully flushed with Siemers Prefer. Easter herself brought a male Bullseye with +16 Canadian conformation into the world and at the beginning of May she calved for the second time, this time female twins from Siemers Hulu-RC. Easter has three full sisters that have already been classified in their first lactation, 2x VG-87 and 1x VG-85. Another sister from Discjockey also scored VG-85. ‘We believe in Hangover and have big expectations for the family in the future,’ says Lorenzo.
