Melarry: Breeder Herd with Solid Impact in the Genomic Era
Since the arrival of genomics, typical breeder herds have found it increasingly difficult to compete with the specialized breeding programs in producing the next generation of young bulls for the AI industry. However, one breeder herd that has become more prominent in recent years is Melarry, based at Rice in central Minnesota. At first it was Melarry Frazzled who carved out a stellar reputation as a sire of sons, and more recently Melarry Fuel and then Melarry Future have graduated as top-25 proven sires.
