At the same time, Pietertje 2 became the foundation cow of a family with immense influence in Holstein breeding. Because: Pietertje 2 appears in the pedigree of both icons of the Holstein breed: Elevation and Chief! And here it is: thanks to a valuable tip, HI was made aware that in Friesland – the Dutch province from which Pietertje 2 left for the US in 1882 – the original Pietertje family is still at work - still owned by the Cuperus family, still in the village of Boksum!
