Holstein of the week
Germany’s newly awarded “Cow of the Year 2024”, VOX Sina (picture) owned by the Volkmann family (VOX-Holsteins) is a clear winner. This EX-94 Snow-RC has produced numerous good descendants. She is also the dam of the popular Red-Holstein bull VOX Say-Red-PP. Ten-year-old Sina not only looks good and breeds incredibly well, but also produced almost 90,000kg (198,000lb) of milk so far.

Canada
At this year’s Eastern Ontario/Western Quebec Championship Show, Hendercroft Unix Fuzzy of Hendercroft Holsteins was crowned Grand Champion. Reserve Grand went to Kingsway Sidekick A-Touchdown of Cherry Crest & Kingsway Farm, while Mosnang Avenger Lippy of Donnadale/Cedarwal/Kingsway/Barnum was Honorable Mention.

Switzerland
She sets a new world record. These days Wyss Blaide Herta VG-89 officially completed over 200,000kg (440,000lb) lifetime production. With Herta, the Wyss family from Switzerland already has the second home-bred 200,000kg cow. This is unique in the world, as it concerns granddam (Wyss Rudolph Haiti) and granddaughter.

GAEC Wilt was the big winner at this year’s Agrimax Expo in Metz. With Wilt Entity (<Chief)) and Wilt Estonie (<Haniko), that breeder herd not only produced the Holstein Grand and Reserve Champion of the show but also the Grand Champion, Luck-E Jess-P-Red (<Altitude), and the Reserve Grand Champion, Mox Ricky-Red (<Doral-Red), with the Red-Holsteins.

Germany
At the German Masters Sale in Fließem, 137 lots sold at an average of €5,466 to buyers from 12 different countries. An IVF session out of C&D Dropbox Perfection was sold for €34,000. With 3183 gTPI and 3.54 PTAT, Perfection is one of the world leaders. Beerzedal HiPo Emily (<Sheepster) went to the Netherlands for €28,000. Emily has 3241 gTPI and a deep US pedigree.

The origin of this family is to be found in the heart of the cow family of Dellia EX-95. Highclass promises to transmit very good for udders. He makes very high and wide rear udders and a strong central ligament and offers above-average milk production (853kg) with positive components. Moreover, Highclass is homozygous for both kappa casein BB and A2A2.
